Book Review - Beach Read by Emily Henry
Beach Read by Emily Henry
My first Emily Henry read, but definitely not my last! I loved this book and story so much. It's a sappy romance read but I eat these kinds of stories up every time.
Beach Read follows January Andrews, a romance writer on a deadline to write her next novel. After her father died and left her a beach home in North Bear Shores, she decided to spend the summer at the house to finish her book in a new setting. What she doesn't know is that right next door, a literary fiction writer and her old college nemesis, Augustus Everett is attempting to finish his own novel. They end up making a bet that challenges them to write a story in the other's genre. What follows is a summer full of happy romance dates and sad interviews of people in a death cult.
I am a sucker for any kind of romance book, and this book did not disappoint. I really liked how this also wasn't just a happy romance book where it's all daisies and roses throughout the whole thing. There were true deep emotions in this book, and there is a nice balance between happy and sad in this story. I absolutely loved Emily Henry's writing style. I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout reading this book.
January and Gus were such likable characters and I found myself rooting for them from the very beginning. Their relationship grew really naturally and their character growth was great. I'm so glad that they both got the happy ending that they deserved.
Absolutely recommend this book to all romance lovers.
