Book Review - Bride by Ali Hazelwood
Bride by Ali Hazelwood
Ali Hazelwood has done it again, folks. But before I get into it, a huge thank you to Berkley Publishing Group for providing me with an advance reader copy of Bride by Ali Hazelwood, who is one of my favorite authors.
Bride is Ali Hazelwood's first attempt at a romantasy or fantasy romance novel, and I hope with all my being that it is not her last. This was one of those books that I literally had to force myself to put down because the story was so good. If I didn't have to work during the week, I would have stayed up all night to finish this book in one sitting because it was that good. I also love that Hazelwood incorporated some STEM and science into this book when describing how Vampyres and Weres came to be. I love her STEM novels, but I'm partial to a good romantasy, and I loved the slight incorporation of both.
Bride is about Misery Lark, the daughter of a powerful Vampyre councilman, and Lowe Moreland, a strong Alpha of a pack of Weres. Misery has struggled to fit in among Vampyres and humans alike and finds herself in a situation where she's marrying Lowe in order to secure an alliance between the Vamps and Weres to prevent war. But she also has her own reason for agreeing to this marriage of convenience, to find something that is very important to her, even if it means that she'll be alone in Were territory.
I cannot express how much love I have for the characters in this book. I want nothing for the best for both Misery and Lowe. Misery deserves the world after everything she's gone through in her life. I'm so glad when Misery solves the mystery of who stole the something that is very important to her. And Lowe is such a sweetheart despite his rugged and rough exterior. I do wish there was more communication between Lowe and Misery at the beginning, but I understand that there was a reason (which I won't spoil) that explains why they kept their distance from each other.
I loved this book, and I'm so excited that it comes out on February 6, 2024, because I feel as though this book is a perfect Valentine's read. I need the physical book on my shelf because the cover is just beautiful too.
