Book Review - The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori
The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori
I found this book on a Reddit suggestion when looking up dark mafia romances, and boy, the Redditor who suggested this book did not let me down. I am definitely going to be reading more mafia romances after this because I am obsessed, no pun intended.
The Maddest Obsession follows Gianna, the daughter of a mob boss. Although her life is lavish and she's afforded many luxuries by her family, she has a dark past that haunts her. She's broken and there's only one person who can help her feel normal. Christian Allister is a mysterious, crooked fed. He only ever sleeps with a woman three times, and never kisses them, until Gianna.
Ugh, I can't explain how much I loved the relationship between Gianna and Christian. Gianna's struggles are so real and genuine and she's perfectly imperfect. And Christian is such a perfectly obsessed male main character. He's the kind of guy that I swoon over in books but if I ever encountered him in real life I'd be totally freaked out.
The plot was very good in my opinion. I haven't read any mafia romances before in the past so I didn't know what to expect but I was really entertained by this story. Gianna deserved so much better than Antonio and her other husband could give her, and I'm glad that she and Christian got together in the end. *Spoiler* I wish she didn't get pregnant so quickly because I felt like it didn't make any sense. Christian went from not wanting any wife or family to suddenly wanting one when he found out she was pregnant. Regardless, I thought this was cute in general and would recommend it to anyone looking to get into the mafia romance genre.
