Book Review - The Coven by Harper L. Woods

The Coven by Harper L. Woods

I am so glad that this book was on Kindle Unlimited. It was the second book that I had chosen to read after getting a Kindle Unlimited subscription, and from the first page, I could not put it down. I read it from start to finish in one sitting. This book is perfect for anyone who enjoys dark academia with some spice.

Willow is a witch who was sent on a mission to Hollow's Grove, a university for students to practice their magic. What I really enjoyed about Willow is that she doesn't let herself get walked over. From the beginning she stands up for her beliefs. Willow also represents confident midsized women, which is so rare in romance fantasy fiction.

Alaric Grayson Thorne is the handsome Vessel (vampire demon) headmaster of Hollow's Grove. The relationship between Gray and Willow can be best described by love-hate, or probably more accurately, lust-hate. The twisted relationship between them was so interesting and entertaining to read. Be warned, you will absolutely fall for bad boy Gray as you're reading. I would say that the spice rating is a 2.5/5, but still it's probably a better read for those over 18.

The cliffhanger ending actually made me want to scream. I completely did not see it coming, although I should've. Sometimes book plots hit a plateau, but I found this book getting better and better as I went through it. I'm almost disappointed that I read this book because it only came out a few weeks ago and now I have to wait until August 23 to read the second one.
