Book Review - Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

Yet another 5 star read for 2022. I might have spoken prematurely before, Daughter of the Moon Goddess may just be my favorite book of the year. Sue Lynn Tan writes beautifully about Xingyin, the daughter of Chang’e. Chang’e had been imprisoned on the moon by the Celestial Emperor for a crime she committed and Xingyin’s goal is to free her mother from her imprisonment. Along her journey, Xingyin becomes a strong warrior and encounters two love interests, one fierce soldier and a gentle prince. I loved the descriptions of Chinese mythology and legends in this novel, such as Xiangliu or The Four Dragons. I felt like I had read a series by the end of this book just from the amount of information that is packed into the story. While reading this book you’ll wish you lived in the Celestial Realm and be able to meet all the interesting characters. Although that’s not possible, I’ll settle for continuing to read the series. I can’t wait to read the next novel.
