Book Review - A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova
A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova
I was able to squeeze in reading another full book, and this one, A Deal with the Elf King, is available through Kindle Unlimited. I've really been enjoying my recent reads that feature strong female leads who aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in or allow themselves to get walked all over by men.
This book features Luella, a nineteen year-old herbologist who is her town's healer. One day, when the elf king Eldas comes to find his Human Queen, Luella discovers that she is actually the next Human Queen. She is then forced to wed Eldas and perform the duties of the Human Queen that include bringing spring to elf lands.
The relationship between Eldas and Luella goes from enemies to lovers, but it felt extremely natural and not forced like other similar stories. The banter between them is really good and I loved how their relationship progressed as the story went on. Time and time again while reading I found myself swooning over Eldas. I mean who doesn't love a grumpy king who can go from completely indifferent to "touch her and I'll kill you" in seconds.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable read and I'll be interested in reading the other books in the series that take place in the same universe.
