Book Review - Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

This was my first time reading a digital book in a long time, and I am so glad that I chose Firekeeper’s Daughter. This book is packed full of information about Native American culture, especially about the Ojibwe tribe. I loved the characters and storyline. Daunis is an 18-year-old girl who’s a biracial unenrolled member of a tribal community. However, the community is in danger because someone is trafficking drugs. Daunis ends up helping solve the mystery of who is trafficking meth into the community and taking innocent lives. I initially found the story a bit confusing, but after getting into it, I didn’t want to put it down. When the drug trafficker was revealed, I honestly was shocked because I never saw it coming. Overall a really great read, but probably better for an older audience because there are triggering aspects (drug use, sexual assault, etc.) but this book was beautifully written especially for a debut novel.
