Book Review - Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan
Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan
Sue Lynn Tan is back with another amazing novel. As the second and final novel of the Celestial Kingdom duology, this book exceeded all expectations and wrapped up Xingyin's story perfectly. After reading this series, I'd be inclined to say that this may be my favorite series of all time.
After freeing her mother from imprisonment in the last book, we would have thought Xingyin's story was over, however, in this book, the safety and balance of the Immortal Realm is in danger from a dangerous threat. Once again, Xingyin needs to step in and save the day. Throughout the story, Xingyin is still stuck in a love triangle with Liwei and Wenzhi, however, this time, Wenzhi is trying to continually prove himself to be worthy of her after his major betrayal in the last story. Wenzhi's character development throughout this story is just ... *chefs kiss*... perfect. He is truly remorseful for his previous actions towards Xingyin and will do anything to make it up to her. With that said, be prepared to cry your eyes out for the last few chapters. This story absolutely shattered me right at the end and I was actually struggling to read the last few chapters because I physically couldn't see through my tears. I seriously thought that Xingyin wouldn't receive a happy ending. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending that the author wrote, and it was so fitting for Xingyin's story. I wish I could rate this higher than a 5/5 because it deserves so much more.
I can't wait to see what Sue Lynn Tan will be writing in the future, because she has a beautiful, lyrical writing style that transports me right into a world where the Celestial Kingdom exists. I will be anxiously awaiting her next book which will take place in the same world as her previous books.
