Book Review - Gleam by Raven Kennedy

Gleam by Raven Kennedy

At this point, I'm struggling to write reviews on the books in this series. The best way I can sum it up is by saying that each book gets better than the last. Gild, while a great book, pales in comparison to the quality and storyline of Gleam. In this book, we finally see significant character growth in Auren. Throughout this book, we also learn a lot more about Auren's past as an orphan on the streets. In my opinion, these scenes and flashbacks that were strewn throughout the book were a bit boring, but after reading the final chapters I see why they were so important.

In each book of the Plated Prisoner series, Midas proves himself to be more and more villainous. While the first book simply shows that he's misguided, this last book truly reveals his disturbing wickedness. Although I didn't completely hate Midas in the first book, I am now repulsed by him and his POV chapters.

On the other hand, the shocking revelation that we learned about Rip in the last book, which initially makes him seem like the villain, was actually misleading. Throughout this book, Rip proves that it would not be in his nature to ever hurt Auren. I loved the way Rip and Auren's romance unfolded in this book, and I am going to be starting the fourth book in the series as soon as I'm done writing this review. This series is truly addicting.
