Book Review - A Kingdom of Venom and Vows by Holly Renee

A Kingdom of Venom and Vows by Holly Renee

Ugh, I was really expecting this book to be much better than the last two since it's essentially the wrap-up to Adara's story. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad by any means, but I found myself wanting to rush through it. Once again there was a lot of internal monologue and not enough plot.

This book was refreshing in the fact that we finally got to hear different perspectives. This book had chapters from Gavrill, Adara, Evren, and even Sorin's perspective. It was nice to hear more about what the other characters were thinking and feeling.

It would've been much more enjoyable if the word "mate" wasn't used way too often. Like we get it, Evren and Adara are mates and don't want to be separated. But it just got to be too much with them constantly spewing out variations of "he's my mate" or "she's my mate." And the spicy smut scenes were literally all the same. I started to just skip through them because each one was just like the other.

I'm not sure if I'm going to be reading the next installment, A Kingdom of Fire and Fate that comes out in June because I'm not sure how much more of the same thing I can take. The only thing that might save it is that it's about Thalia and Sorin and not Adara and Evren.

Despite all my complaining, I still liked this book enough to finish it and it was nowhere near the worst book I've read.
