Book Review - The Last Dragon King by Leia Stone
The Last Dragon King by Leia Stone
This book describes Arwen, an 18-year-old girl whose father died when she was young so she was forced to grow up quickly and act as the provider for her family. However, one day, the Dragon King's Royal Guard comes to her town to bring any girl of "child-bearing age" who could handle his Dragon magic without miscarriage. The whole concept was just kind of weird, but this isn't even the bad part. I actually liked the story, just not the way it was presented.
I chose this book based on Amazon's recommendations (which are based on the books I've been reading) and I'm not sure if I really trust them anymore. It's not that this book was bad, it just was very basic compared to what I've been reading.

Everything in this story was sooo rushed. I read this book from start to finish in probably 2.5-3 hours and felt like my head was spinning the whole time because everything happened so quickly. The relationship between Arwen and Drae, the Dragon King, felt unnatural and forced. It was literally 0-100 with no basis for their emotional relationship.
One thing I really did enjoy about this book was the magic system. I absolutely loved the way Dragon magic was described, and the fact that full-blooded royals (basically just the King and Arwen) can transform into dragons.
I feel like this story could have been amazing if it had been split into several books. Forcing all the plot points into one book just didn't work and the book just lacked depth, in my opinion. I didn't dislike this book, but I probably won't be reading any of the other books in the Kings of Avalier series unless I run out of books to read.
