Book Review - A Touch of Ruin by Scarlett St. Clair

A Touch of Ruin by Scarlett St. Clair

This is the sequel of A Touch of Darkness and the continuation of Hades' and Persephone's relationship. Although the first book was good, this book helped remind me why I love mythological retellings. There's just something about hearing a new twist to an old story.

I enjoyed reading this book more than the first one despite it being pretty repetitive. In this book, Persephone and Hades are consistently butting heads due to miscommunications. This book is full of jealousy, tension, and fighting. Hades and Persephone are constantly fighting and making up. I feel like Persephone has yet to develop much as a character, and in this book, she does several things selfishly against the guidance of others. But other than that, I enjoyed just about everything else about this book.

I am so glad that we see more of the same characters and some new ones as well. I loved the interactions between Persephone and Hermes or Hecate. Apollo also plays a more significant role in this book and becomes a likable character. Although Persephone is one of my least favorite characters in this series, I will still be reading the rest of the books whenever I get a chance to.
