Book Review - The Demon Court by Emma Hamm
The Demon Court by Emma Hamm
The Demon Court is a book about Selene, a sorceress who has been tasked with invading the court of Lust, one of the leaders of the seven kingdoms of the seven demons (aka. the seven deadly sins). After meeting Lust and coming to live in his court, she realizes that she has the power to make her own choices for the first time in her life and Lust is the one who shows her that. She was always told that Lust is only able to feel the emotion of lust, but after spending time with him Selene begins to see that there's more to him.
I thought that the story of this book was pretty cute. It wasn't this fantastical magical adventure, but it was more of a cute romance with a little bit of spice. Selene and Lust initially are drawn to each other through attraction, but their relationship grows as they begin to feel more for each other.
My only gripe with this book was the timing. It was really difficult to figure out how time was passing. At some points, it felt like the book just skipped forward in time with nothing happening in between. Despite this, I thought it was an interesting book that made for an entertaining story.
