Book Review - Verity by Colleen Hoover

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Woah. That's all I can say to start this book review. I started reading this book during the week and I wish I had waited until the weekend because this book was so tense that I didn't want to put it down. This is the type of book that you want to sit down and read all in one sitting because it's just so enthralling. Verity is only the second book I've read by Colleen Hoover and I already know that I'm going to enjoy reading her other books.

In this book we follow Lowen Ashleigh who has been a struggling writer since her mother was diagnosed with cancer and died. However, her luck appears to turn around when she is offered an amazing opportunity to finish a suspense series for another writer who was recently in an accident. After meeting with the writer's husband, she decides to accept the offer and stays at their home to go through the office and notes of Verity, the writer who was in the accident. While going through her office, Lowen finds a manuscript for an autobiography that Verity wrote that has intimate details of her life and her side of the story of her life with her husband and children. As Lowen reads each chapter, she realizes that this manuscript could help Jeremy, Verity's husband, realize who she truly is.

I seriously don't even know how to begin describing my feelings about this book. Verity concluded with a rhetorical question which truly makes you reconsider everything that happened in this book. After finishing this book, I am left with so many questions. This book is seriously disturbing. It is masterfully written so that readers can feel the tension and paranoia that Lowen is feeling throughout the story. When I finished reading this book I needed to stretch out my neck and back because I was so physically tense while reading this book. I also need to mention the whiplash that I got from the plot-twists and major reveals. Oh my god, I do not want to put any spoilers into my review but if you read this, be prepared to have your mind blown. About halfway through the book I already had a suspicion as to what would happen, but the last few chapters of the book had me sitting there with my mouth open in shock. Absolutely recommend this to people in search of a mystery thriller novel.
