Book Review - C*ck Down the Block by Amy Award
C*ck Down the Block by Amy Award
I can't remember where I found this book, it might've been on TikTok, but regardless I really liked it for what it was. The author's foreword disclaims that this book is mostly romance and spice fluff, so I knew what I was getting myself into. And I ate it all up.
Trixie is a plus-sized librarian who lives next door to her longtime best friend, and gorgeous football superstar, Chris Kingsman, who's been in love with her for as long as he can remember. When Trixie has a school reunion, she wants to impress all the girls who used to bully her so she asks Chris to be her fake-boyfriend. But during their time fake-dating, they realize that they can no longer hide their feelings for each other.
For a book full of fluff, I thought that the story was super cute. There wasn't too much that happened plot-wise other than Trixie getting ready for the reunion and the actual reunion itself (plus some dates and smaller events) but it was still very entertaining and I enjoyed reading this book. My only plot complaint was that I thought they didn't make a big enough deal about the *spoiler* sex-tape scandal. It was also my first sports-romance in a while, but I really liked it.
The characters were so cute and Trixie was such a believable character. I really liked the representation of plus-sized women because there aren't many stories that have plus-sized FMC and I definitely think we need more. And Chris Kingsman was such a charming male main character. He was so obsessed with Trixie (in a healthy way) and it was so endearing.
Recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, enjoyable, and spicy read.
